About the Founder

An accomplished drummer and percussionist, and as an experienced facilitator of group drumming events, Alan Yellowitz wears all of these hats simultaneously, as he shares his passion for drumming with his audiences. His expertise as a musician, his precise communication abilities and his care and understanding combine seamlessly as he facilitates group drumming events, which empowers individuals to connect with their potential through drums and percussion.

Alan Yellowitz was born in Washington DC, and raised in Bethesda, MD. His love for music, specifically drums, began in elementary school. After getting his first drum set at age 11, Alan was hooked. His experience has evolved from school bands and basement jams, to his most current band, which recently broke up after 18 years.  Much of  his inspiration came from the greats like Buddy Rich, Billy Cobham, Neil Peart, Efrain Toro, Pancho Sanchez, Max Roach and Vinnie Colaiuta.

For more than 20 years Alan has developed business for the Information Technology industry. However, feeling unfulfilled and stressed out in this high paced field, he reconnected to his calling – to share his passion for drumming with as many people as possible. With that desire to share, The Beat Goes On was born. The Beat Goes On began facilitating drumming events at senior living facilities to breathe life into the activities that are offered. It is a natural fit for Alan, as it combined his corporate experience with his musical background. However, Alan quickly found that group drumming events were beneficial in so many contexts outside of the senior living facilities. Therefore, The Beat Goes On expanded into special events such as community-building, corporate, birthday parties and for stress-relief and meditation.

Alan's mission is to empower as many people as possible by teaching them how to connect with their own internal rhythm through drumming.
